Israel of God

Look and Live
The subject that I’m going to be ministering on in this message is entitled The Israel of God. This is a message of identification with the Lord’s purpose in the church. Now we know that in fundamental Christianity that the teaching has it in these last days that God is about to finish his purpose with the church and that the church is to be taken out of the world through a secret rapture, and then God’s purpose then will be identified with natural Israel, and this message here is going to identify for us who the true Israel of God is in the light of the New Testament and how that God’s church is going to play a most dramatic role in these end times in the fulfillment of all things concerning the Scriptures. Rather than being taken out of the world, the church is going to be in the world, affecting the world, but not affected by the world. That is speaking of a greater works ministry of which the Great Commission that the Lord Jesus Christ gave to the church is to be fulfilled in our time, which is that Great Commission that the gospel of the kingdom shall be preached to every nation, kindred and tongue before the end can come, and the identified ministry of this end-time witness to the nations we’re going to see is God’s true and elect church, his anointed ones.
As I said, the identification of the Israel of God in this hour is what is important for us to realize. Is God going to reverse from the church and go back to natural Israel? Is he going to go back to his Old Testament people? Is he going to use them in the last days to propagate the gospel, or is it going to be the church? Is the salvation of Israel, for instance, going to come through the appearance of Enoch and Elijah as fundamental Christianity teaches, or is the salvation of natural Israel going to come through the church? All these things we’re going to touch on as we minister on this message in this hour.
First of all, we want to begin in the gospel of John, Chapter 3, identifying a purpose of God in his conversation with the elder, the Sanhedrin, one of the elders of the Sanhedrin, Nicodemus, and let us begin in John, Chapter 3 and verse 1. There was a man of the Pharisees named Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews. The same came to Jesus by night and said unto him, “Rabbi, we know that thou art a teacher come from God, for no man can do these miracles that you do except God be with him.” And Jesus answered and said unto him, “Verily, verily I say unto thee, except a man be born again he cannot see the kingdom of God,” and Nicodemus saith unto him, “How can a man be born when he’s old? Can he enter the second time into his mother’s womb and be born?” And Jesus answered, “Verily, verily I say unto thee, except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is Spirit.”
Now in answer to Nicodemus as he came to Jesus. this man Nicodemus – a ruler among the Sanhedrin coming to Jesus – believed in him secretly. As you know, Jesus was not accepted by the rulers of the Jews, by the religious leaders. He was despised, rejected by them, but some of them were secret believers, and this man Nicodemus was a secret believer and so he came privately to Jesus because he was one of the rulers of the Jews, and he didn’t want the rest of the Ecclesia to know that he was indeed a believer so he came privately to Jesus. Now Jesus answered him when he testified to Jesus that he knew that he was no less than a prophet of God because of the miracles that he did. Then Jesus answered Nicodemus and he gave him a rather strange reply, and he said, “Except a man be born again he cannot see the kingdom of God.” That didn’t seem to be an answer relative to Nicodemus’ suggestion of recognition to Jesus. The answer that Jesus gave him seemed to come from an entirely different perspective as to what he was being questioned on by Nicodemus or being acknowledged by Nicodemus as a prophet.
The reason why Jesus gave him this type of an answer and said except a man be born again he cannot see the kingdom of God was because Jesus was answering Nicodemus according to the very problem of the belief of the Jewish people at that time, and that belief was in ethnic superiority. The Jews, you see, had a caste system in their society by which they only recognized genealogy or pure genealogy, that is, the ability to trace their ethnic genealogy as pure bloodline Jews or pure bloodline Israelites back to Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. The ability to do that in an effectual way was what qualified them, especially the Levites, to serve in the priesthood or the ministry, and now we know that in Samaria and other parts of Palestine and so forth there were other Jews, but these Jews were mixed with Gentile blood and therefore were not pureblood Jews, and so in the Jewish caste system they were considered second-class Jews or low-caste Jews, and because the Jews prided themselves on their ethnic purity, or their ability to trace that ethnic purity, this is what they regarded being God’s chosen people as representing, that the true Israel of God or to be a true child of God or a chosen vessel of the Lord they had to be able to prove their ethnic purity as a pure bloodline Jew.
So Jesus was addressing this very problem in the Jewish religion when he said, “Except a man be born again he cannot enter or see the kingdom of God.” Because Jesus said, “Verily, verily I say unto you, that which is born of the flesh is flesh and that which is born of the Spirit is Spirit.” What Jesus was telling Nicodemus was he is not a Jew. That is to say he is not a child or a chosen son of God, if you will, who was born through natural, ethnic means who can trace his ethnic genealogy back to Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. That is not what confirms him as a child of God or a chosen son or seed of God, but whether or not he is born of the Spirit is what counts with God, because being born of the flesh means that you are only being brought into this world like everybody else is through natural birth.
So Jesus was telling Nicodemus that a man must be born again, not of natural seed, not of natural genealogy, not of natural heredity. That was not the bloodline. That was not the line which God recognized for being a chosen vessel of his, but a man must be born of another genealogy, which is called the genealogy of the Spirit. A man must be born of the Spirit before he can enter the kingdom of God. That is a birth which does not come through natural means. It is a birth which comes sovereignly through spiritual means, and to be born of the flesh is to be born from beneath, but to be born of the Spirit is to be born from above, and so Jesus was answering Nicodemus, addressing him directly with the problem that the Jewish people had and this problem of considering themselves to be ethnically pure by the ability to trace their genealogy as a pure bloodline, and this was the caste system that God intended to do away with, because he would not have a people, you see, who could claim ethnic superiority. He would have a people who could claim spiritual birth in the Lord and that that new birth is what counts with God, not the old birth, not the natural genealogy. That means nothing with God. Only the spiritual birth, only the spiritual genealogy because you see, the genealogy of Jesus Christ is not a genealogy after the flesh. It’s a genealogy after the Spirit, and they that are written in the family of God are not written in the families of the sons of men. They are written in the family of the sons of God, which is a heavenly charter, if you will, not an earthly charter of genealogies. Praise God.
So in this answer to Nicodemus Jesus was directly ministering to the problem that the Jewish people had in condescending to the purpose of the gospel. Now in Romans Chapter 9 and verses 1 to 8, and I want to read this from Moffitt’s translation because it amplifies to us that under the New Covenant God recognizes another kind of Israel, not the Israel born after the flesh, but the Israel that is born after the spirit and how that that Israel which is born of the Spirit is of the faith of Abraham and is of the seedline of Jesus Christ, because you see Jesus Christ was God incarnate, therefore he was not a natural Jew. He only came into the world through the Jewish nation but he was not a Jew, because the Scripture says that before, or Jesus said rather, “Before Abraham was, I am.” You see, Jesus pre-existed all races because all races were created by him. Therefore he could not be the progeny of any race. So he was God incarnate and he came into the world through the Jewish nation. He was born into the world, incarnated into the world through the Jewish nation for the purpose of fulfilling his messianic commission which the Father sent him into the world to do, but Jesus was only a Jew in a figure of speech because he had pre-existed the Jews. Indeed, he pre-existed all races.
Now I want to read to you from Romans Chapter 9 and verses 1 to 8 in Moffitt’s translation, and it reads this way. “I am telling the truth,” says Paul. “In Chris it is no lie. My conscience bears me out in the Holy Spirit when I say that I am in sore pain. I suffer endless anguish of heart.” This was Paul’s travail for his people the Jews because of their unbelief concerning Christ. “I could have wished myself accursed,” said Paul, “and banished from Christ for the sake of my natural kinsmen. For they are Israelites, theirs is the sonship, the glory, the covenants, the divine legislation, the worship and the promises. The patriarchs are theirs, and theirs too, so far as natural descent goes is the Christ. Blessed forever more be the God who is over all.” Amen. “It is not, of course,” says Paul, “as if God’s word had failed. Far from it. Israel does not mean everyone who belongs to Israel. They are not all children of Abraham because they are descended from Abraham. No, it is through Isaac that your offspring shall be reckoned.” Meaning that instead of God’s children being the children born to him by natural descent, it is the children of the promise who are reckoned as his true offspring.”
Now who are the children of the promise? We’re going to see that the children of the promise are the children of faith. The children of the seedline of faith these are the children of promise. This is the true offspring, if you will, after the Spirit, who are not born by natural descent or generated by natural descent from Abraham but are generated by spiritual descent from Abraham, who walk in the faith of that man Abraham who had this testimony that he pleased God because he believed God. Faith, therefore, was given to Abraham as a testament of his righteousness because he believed God. So faith was imputed to Abraham for righteousness, and they that be the seed of Abraham then are not the children of natural descent, not the children of natural genealogies, but the children who walk in the faith of the heart of the spirit of that man Abraham, who have the Spirit of the Living God in them, and we’re going to see as we go into Paul’s teachings in Galatians how that he ministers to the Gentiles and begins to identify us with God’s purpose as the true seed of Abraham, that is, the church. The elect church is the true seed of Abraham, the heirs of the promise, the invisible Israel of God, if you will, to whom pertain all the weightier promises of God from Genesis to Revelation, and we’re going to see that there’s not two economies in God, there’s only one economy. There is not a natural Israel and a spiritual Israel. There is only one Israel that God recognizes as the heir of all his covenants, and that is the invisible, spiritual Israel which constitutes the one seed, which is that seed of faith which is in Christ so that there is no such thing as natural genealogies, that is to say natural Greeks or natural Jews. In God’s economy there is only one seed of promise, only one heir to everything in God, everything in Christ Jesus, and that is the seed of faith if you be in Christ.
Now in Galatians Chapter 3, verses 6 to 9. “Even as Abraham believed God and it was accounted to him for righteousness, know you therefore that they which are of faith, the same are the children of Abraham.” Now, are we the children of faith? Yes, we are the children of faith. Whether we be Jews, whether we be Gentiles that has no meaning with God as far as our natural genealogy is concerned. The Scripture says that if we are of faith the same are the children of Abraham. They that be of faith are the children of Abraham, and the Scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the heathen, that is the Gentiles, through faith preached before the gospel unto Abraham saying, “In thee shall all nations be blessed.” Not one nation, that is, not Israel, but all nations were to be blessed in Abraham, because the seedline of Abraham was to reach out to all men, and that seedline of Abraham is the Messiah, Christ himself. So then they which be of faith are blessed with faithful Abraham.
Now down in verse 16 it says, “Now to Abraham and his seed were the promises made.” You see, God made promises to Abraham and he made it to Abraham’s seed, and the word says, “He the Lord saith not and to seeds as of many or as of more than one, but as of one seed and to thy seed, which is Christ.” So then therefore we understand that there is only one seed of Abraham, one seed of Abraham, and that seed is Christ. There is not more than one seed. There is not a natural seed and a spiritual seed of Abraham. There is only one seed of Abraham. That’s the seed of faith, that’s the promised one, that’s the Messiah, that’s the Christ. If you be in Christ you are the seed of Abraham. You are the one seed, the one heir of promise to whom God has promised everything from Genesis to Revelation that he gave to Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. All the promises of God are to that one seed which is Christ so that if you be in Christ you are the heir of everything God promised to Abraham, and you don’t have to be of the natural descent or genealogy of Abraham to be Abraham’s child, to be a chosen vessel, to be a chosen son of the Living God. All you have to be is a spiritual descendant of Abraham. You have to have the spirit of Abraham in you. You have to have the faith of Abraham in you. Then are you the heir. If Christ be in you then are you the heir. Praise God.
Now continuing in Galatians down in the final four verses, 26 through 29 of Galatians Chapter 3, Paul goes on to tell the Gentile Galatian believers. He says, “For you are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus. For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ, have put on Christ, there is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female. For you are all one in Christ Jesus, and if you be Christ’s, if you belong to Jesus Christ, to the Lord Jesus Christ, if you belong to him, then are you Abraham’s seed and heirs according to the promise.” And how many seeds? One seed. One seed says the Scripture. There is no such thing anymore in God’s New Testament economy as Jews and Greeks, Jews and Gentiles, no such thing as chosen people called Jews as opposed to Gentiles. There is only one chosen seed in the New Testament economy, only one heir of God, only one seed of Abraham, and that seed of Abraham is Christ, so that if you belong to Jesus Christ you’re Abraham’s seed and you’re heirs of everything God promised to Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. Therefore, we understand in the light of Paul’s revelation to the church that the church is indeed the spiritual Israel of God, the heir of all things that God promised to Abraham.
Now continuing in Galatians over in Chapter 6 verses 15 and 16. “For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision avails anything nor uncircumcision but a new creature.” What does it mean to be a new creature? That’s what Jesus was telling Nicodemus. A man must not be born by natural descent. A man must be born of spiritual descent. What it means to be a new creature has nothing to do with the old creature. The old creature is born of the flesh. The old creature is born of natural genealogies. The old creature is under the old covenant, but the new creature is under the new covenant under Christ. For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision avails anything nor uncircumcision but a new creature. A new creature is one born of the Spirit, born again not from beneath but from above. Not a man who can trace his bloodline, his ethnic bloodline as the Jews sought to do, but a man who can trace his spiritual bloodline through the shed blood of Jesus. We have a bloodline in the New Testament. It is the shed blood of Jesus that makes us a new creation under a new genealogy, which is the genealogy of the spirits of the firstborn of just men made perfect, and we have now, brethren, according to Hebrews 12, become the citizens of that Mount Zion, that heavenly Jerusalem which is from above, not the Jerusalem from beneath but the Jerusalem which is from above, which is God’s elect and precious church. So that God would have us walking where? He would have us walking in heavenly places in that city which Abraham is a citizen of, which is the city of faith, which is the city of the Spirit, which is that ability to walk by the Holy Ghost in the revelation of God’s purpose, ordained to his eternal heirship in Christ. “And as many,” says Paul, “as walk according to this rule, according to the rule of the new creature in Christ, as many as walk according to this rule, peace be on them and mercy and upon the Israel of God.” That’s the Israel of God saints.
Paul teaches us that the new creature in Christ is the true Israel of God and the only Israel of God that the Lord recognizes. You see saints, the problem 2,000 years ago and the reason why the Jewish people could not walk with Christ under the new covenant was because this was the stumbling block – circumcision – which had to do with genealogies, caste systems and ethnic superiority. According to Acts 15 when the apostles came together in their great enclave it was to settle the issue of circumcision, and if you will read Acts 15 you will see that instead of rejecting Jesus Christ, the Jews themselves were accepting the gospel. They were believing in Jesus and there were many thousands of Jews in Judea and Jerusalem that were accepting the gospel as the apostles were preaching it under the fiery anointing of the Holy Ghost, but there arose certain zealous Jews, zealous for the law of Moses, and they began to teach the Jewish Christians concerning circumcision as the Jewish evangelist Paul and so forth began to go forth and Barnabas and they began to evangelize among the Gentiles, then out came these Mosaic Christians preaching the doctrine of circumcision, teaching the new Gentile Christians that they had to become circumcised according to the law of Moses and become naturalized Jews or proselytes of the Jewish nation. Therefore, they were teaching Gentiles that they must become Jews by proselyzation, and Paul renounced that doctrine. And the Apostle Paul said it is not necessary that men become Jews to serve Christ, but it is necessary that Jews become Christians to serve Christ. So the issue then saints that Paul brought up was that he withstood the Judaising preaching of the Mosaic interpreters of Christianity, those Jewish believers and evangelists who were going out to the Gentiles teaching the Gentiles that they had to become circumcised under the law and become naturalized citizens of Israel or of the Jewish economy, of the Jewish nation, of the Jewish commonwealth, and Paul renounced that as a false doctrine and he said that salvation in Christ does not require a Gentile to become circumcised into the Jewish faith or into the Jewish nation, but all that is required of Gentiles is faith in Jesus Christ and nothing else. They do not have to become proselyted Jews to be saved, and that issue split the church in Jerusalem, split the church among the Jewish people and caused the Jewish people en masse then to turn back to their Sanhedrin leaders and to go back into the old order and to reject in total the gospel of Jesus Christ, because the Jewish people wanted to have and maintain their caste system of superiority over the Gentiles and superiority over the proselytes, and Paul renounced that and he said we are all one in Christ, even the Gentiles are equal with us in all things, and so because of their pride then they rejected the gospel. They went back into darkness and there they be to this day, and it’s interesting that because the Jewish leaders rejected Jesus Christ, persuaded the Jewish people who had accepted Christ by the thousands to reject Christ and to go back under the old order of the Sanhedrin doctrine, because those Mosaic false prophets among the Jews who were contending with Paul over the doctrine of circumcision, because they were insisting that the ethnic Jew was superior to the proselyte among the Gentiles, for that reason God sent a spirit of darkness and delusion upon them and he caused them then to reject the light that they did have in Christ and they went back into total darkness, into what we call Judaism today, and when God caused them to go back into utter darkness, he then stirred up the adversary Satan against that, and you know according to history what happened to the Jewish people. They rebelled against their Roman overlords and they were dispelled and dispersed out of Palestine. They were then scattered out of their land, scattered among the Gentiles and dispersed for all this great length of time – some 18, 19 centuries that the Jewish people were scattered in among the Gentiles – and as the Jewish people prided themselves at that time, that is the proud ones in their ethnic pure bloodline, so God saw to it because they rejected the word of faith that was preached to them and prided themselves over the Gentiles, so God confounded them, scattered them among the Gentiles and caused them to have to mix their blood, if you will, to mix their blood with all races under the sun, and this is why today there no longer exists a pure, ethnic Israel with 12 ethnically pure bloodline tribes. They do not exist today. The Jewish people today, the remnant of the Jewish people today that have passed down through the last 18 centuries or so, their dispersion among the Gentiles, the Jewish people that we know today are totally, ethnically mongrelized with the Gentiles. There are black Jews, Ethiopian Jews over in Palestine right now, black Jews. There are brown Jews, there are yellow Jews, there are white Jews. There are Jews, if you will, of all ethnic backgrounds now, because there’s no longer a pure Semitic Jews existing today, no longer a pure Semitic people today among Jewry, that is to say, but they are as a people, as a whole, I’m talking about as a whole, as a whole the Jewish or Israeli peoples today are a people whose blood has been thoroughly mixed with all the Gentile nations of the world, and God allowed that to happen to confound them over their doctrine, and so the Jewish people admit today that they no longer can trace a pure ethnic bloodline as a corporate nation of people or as a corporate people. They only identify with one another today through their religion. That’s the only way they identify – through their customs, through their traditions and through their religion which has been passed down to them through the centuries, but they can no longer pride themselves in the tracing of genealogies. No longer can they do that, and yet we see a gross ignorance today being taught in fundamental Christianity that God is going take his economy back to the natural Jew. Well my friend there no longer exists a pure, natural, ethnic Israel. The only Israel that exists today, the only Jewish people – as we shall call them – that exist today are religious Jews. Jews who are Jews who have a common bond of their religion, which is called Judaism, which is the tradition that is passed down from the time of the Sanhedrin some 2,000 years ago. They’re still walking in the darkness of those traditions.
Now the Scripture says that God has an appointed time to bring the remnant of these Jewish people that exist today who no longer have a pure bloodline, but God has a time according to the fathers who have prayed for them, the apostolic fathers and the faithful ones of old. God has an appointed time to bring all the Jewish people as a corporate people back into grace with God, into salvation and into recognition of their true Messiah whom God caused them to be blinded to reject because of their pride, but they will come back and they will be restored, and God has an instrumentation for restoring the Jewish people because he loves the Jewish people, but he had to confound their pride and scatter them among the Gentiles, but his purpose is to restore them in these last times.
Now in Romans, Chapter 2 of Romans and verses 28 and 29, the Scripture tells us, “For he is not a Jew which is one outwardly, that is, by natural birth, neither is that circumcision which is outward in the flesh, but he is a Jew which is one inwardly and circumcision is that of the heart in the spirit and not in the letter, whose praise is not of men but of God.” So you see God recognizes only one Jew and that’s the Jew of the heart. That’s the Jew in the spirit. My friend, if you have the faith and spirit of Abraham working in you, then you’re that circumcised Jew of the heart, because God is not looking at the outward Jew, he’s looking at the inward Jew. He’s not looking at natural seedline, he’s looking at spiritual seedline, that invisible Jew, that invisible Israel who is the true chosen seed of God. Yes my friend, the word of God is quite emphatic that the Jew or the Israelite is God’s chosen people. The only problem is that men and ministry have been interpreting this from the dead letter, from the natural outward perspective not realizing that God was all the time talking in the Spirit to the heart. Praise God. Even the very name Israel. When God changed Jacob’s name to Israel he gave him a spiritual title, and the name Israel means a prince who has power with God and one who sees God or will see God face to face, one who has power and favor with God. Now we realize that that has never fully applied to the natural seed of Jacob. The natural seed of Jacob has spent more time biblically out of favor with God than they’ve ever spent biblically in favor with God, and today biblically they’re still out of favor with God, and that’s not talking against the Jewish people. That’s simply stating Bible fact. They have never fulfilled the titled meaning of the name Israel, because they’ve never had favor with God, consistent favor with God. They’ve been biblically consistently out of favor with God. Nevertheless, God will restore them in our time, but to understand what the name Israel means, it’s a spiritual title, and that’s why if you are walking in that inner faith of the circumcised heart that is right in the sight of God, circumcised unto Christ, then you are a Jew inwardly and it doesn’t matter whether you’re a Jew outwardly or not. That doesn’t mean a thing to God. Amen. Bless the Lord.
Now also in Ephesians, going over to Ephesians Chapter 2 – Corinthians, Galatians, Ephesians – Ephesians Chapter 2 and beginning in verse 11. Paul ministering to the church at Ephesus to the Gentile believers says, “Wherefore, remember that you being in time past Gentiles in the flesh who are called uncircumcision by that which is called the circumcision,” that is, the Jews were called the circumcision; the Gentiles were called the uncircumcision, and he says, “You that in time past were called the uncircumcision by that which is called the circumcision,” that is, the Jews called you Gentiles uncircumcised in the flesh made by hands, “that at that time you were without Christ, being aliens from the commonwealth of Israel and strangers from the covenants of promise, having no hope and without God in the world, but now,” says Paul to the Gentile believers, “but now in Christ Jesus you who sometimes were far off are made nigh by the blood of Christ. For he is our peace who has made both one, that is Jew and Gentile, he’s made them both one and has broken down the middle wall of partition between us, having abolished in his flesh, that is, in Jesus’ death on the cross he has abolished the enmity, even the law of commandments contained in ordinances for to make in himself of twain, that is of both Jew and Gentile, one new man so making peace and that he might reconcile both, that is Jew and Gentile, unto God in one body by the cross having slain the enmity thereby, and he came and he preached peace to you which were afar off and to them that were nigh, both to Gentile and to Jew,” in other words. For through him we both have access by one Spirit unto the Father. Now, therefore, says Paul to the Gentiles, you are no more strangers and foreigners but fellow citizens with the saints and of the household of God and are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief cornerstone in whom all the building fitly framed together grows unto a holy temple in the Lord in whom you also are builded together for an habitation of God through the Spirit.
You see it has pleased God to make both the Gentiles and the Jews joint heirs together in Christ, if they believe in Christ, so that there is no superiority. There is no caste system in God. God does not recognize ethnic superiority. He is not prejudiced as men are prejudiced, for the Scripture tells us that God created all men and all nations exist by him, that God created all nations of one blood, that is of Adam, and all men are generated from Adam and God is not prejudiced, neither does he favor any bloodline or ethnic man over another ethnic man. There is no such thing as a caste system in the natural with God, but let me tell you something, there is a caste system in the spirit with God. If you are walking in the righteousness of Jesus Christ, then you are considered better than the man who is not walking in the Spirit in Christ. You see, God is no respecter of persons when it comes to natural ethnic genealogy, but let me tell you something, he’s a respecter of persons when it comes to spiritual things. If you are walking in the integrity and light that God has given you he doesn’t care whether you’re black, brown, yellow, green, pink or blue. He doesn’t care what color your skin is or what your background is, because they that please God are they that walk in that heavenly Jerusalem, that walk in the Spirit, and that’s the true seed of Abraham, that’s the invisible Israel, that’s the Jew who’s circumcised on the inside, and that’s the only Jew that has a promise of fulfillment with God. There is no other Jew that God recognizes. And let me tell you something, natural Israel today has no favor with God whatsoever until natural Israel is restored to Jesus Christ. They’re going to be hounded, they’re going to be tormented, they’re going to have no rest for the sole of their feet. They’re going to be tormented everywhere they go and they have no peace to this hour. They occupy a little strip of land in Palestine which their fathers held many thousands of years ago, so to speak, but they have no peace there. They’re in constant turmoil with the Arabs. There is no rest and the Jewish people will have no rest until they are restored to their Messiah. Until they are brought to their Messiah they will have no true rest either in the flesh or in the spirit.
Now we’re taught in fundamental Christianity that God is going to take the church out of the world through a secret rapture and that Enoch and Elijah are going to appear during the tribulation period, and Enoch and Elijah are going to convert the Jewish nation or the Jewish people, and this is the way the Jewish people are going to accept Jesus Christ finally, accept Jesus Christ as their Messiah. Now I want you to know that first of all God isn’t going to take the church out of the world, because the teaching that God is going to take the church out of the world with the Holy Spirit nullifies the fact that the Jewish people or any other people could be saved without the Holy Spirit here. In fact, the witness of the gospel is going to be through the church and the very salvation of natural of Israel I’m going to teach you in God’s word, according to God’s word, is not going to come through any witness of Enoch and Elijah. The salvation of the Jewish people in the natural is going to come through the church. It’s going to come through the church. How do I say that? Because I have Scripture to back it up. I’d like you once again to open your bibles to Romans Chapter 11, and Romans Chapters 9, 10 and 11 are dealing with Paul’s anxiety, his prayer, his travail, his earnest burden for his kinsmen after the flesh, the Jewish people, and he brings forth a prophecy. He utters a prophecy, does Paul, in Romans Chapter 11 beginning in verse 26, or really beginning in verse 25, and he says, “For I would not brethren that you should be ignorant of this mystery lest you should be wise in your own conceits that blindness in part is happened to Israel until the fullness of the Gentiles be come in.” Until the fullness of the Gentiles be come in, that is until God has brought in the full number of the Gentiles and has manifested his glory to the Gentiles and has built up the Gentiles. He’s talking about the church here now. Until he has built up the Gentiles and brought in the full number of those Gentiles appointed to be joint heirs with Christ, and when he’s brought in the full number of those Gentiles appointed to be joint heirs with Christ, then he is going to extend light once again to Israel, and this is how he’s going to do it, and so all Israel shall be saved. But I’ve got news for you. It’s not going to be Enoch and Elijah that’s going to save or be the instrumentation by which all Israel is to be saved. That instrumentation by which all Israel is going to be saved is the Gentile church. It’s through the Gentile church that all Israel shall be saved, and this is exactly what the Scripture tells us. So all Israel shall be saved as it is written. There shall come out of Zion the deliverer and shall turn away ungodliness from Jacob, for this is my covenant unto them when I shall take away their sins. ”Out of Zion,” says Paul, “shall come the deliverer and turn away ungodliness from Jacob.” Now what is Mount Zion. God talking about God coming out of a hill over in Palestine? That’s ridiculous. We understand that Zion, according to Paul’s teaching in types and shadows, Zion is a code word for the church. As he tells us in Hebrews 12, you are already come unto the Mount Zion of God. You’re already come to that heavenly Jerusalem which is the general assembly and church of the first born of the spirits of just men made perfect. So you see the Mount Zion of God, the heavenly Jerusalem, is a code word in New Testament terminology for the church, and the Scripture tells us, Paul prophesying here tells us, that out of a Zion, out of the church shall come forth the deliverer. Who is the deliverer? The deliverer is the Lord Jesus Christ. The Lord Jesus Christ is the deliverer who shall come out of Zion, which is his church. He shall be manifested out of his church or through his church to turn away ungodliness from Jacob.
Now how can Israel be saved or how can the deliverer come out of the church if the church is up in heaven and the Jews are still down here? How can Israel be saved if the church is not here to perform that? Therefore there is no such thing as an escape hatch through the clouds for the church. The church is going to be here, the church is going to fulfill the commission of God to preach the gospel to every nation. The church is going to fulfill the commission of God to bring salvation to natural Israel because that’s his covenant to them. This is my covenant unto them when I shall take away their sins, says God. As concerning the gospel they are enemies for your sakes, that is speaking of the darkness that the Jewish people are in. He says, “As concerning the gospel they’re enemies for your sakes, but as touching the election they are beloved for the Father’s sake,” because you see, the holy fathers themselves had a burden for their people, even as Paul as ministering his burden for his kinsmen after the flesh as he said over in Chapter 9. He said, “I could wish myself accursed if it were possible to see my kinsmen after the flesh, the Jews, to see them turn to Christ with all their heart.” But then he brought forth his prophecy over here in Chapter 11 when he was quoting out of Isaiah concerning God’s promise for the full salvation of Israel, and he says, “For the gifts and callings of God are without repentance.” In other words, God doesn’t repent that he called men, even if they fell away, but in the goodness and grace of God he is going to restore them and bring them back, and what I like about God’s word is that when he makes a promise it’s positive. It’s not maybe if; it’s positive. This is one of those positive promises. This is not a promise with a clause in it. This is not a promise that says if certain conditions are met. This is an absolute, sovereign declaration of God that out of Zion shall come forth Christ. Out of the church shall come forth Christ.
It’s going to be the ministry of the church that will do this. Now this is why we have to understand that the Jews, that God is not going to leave the church, if you will, and go back to the old order economy with the natural Jew. Instead, he’s going to graft the Jew into the church, and the Jew is going to lose his identity as a Jew and he’s going to become a part of Mount Zion, a part of that heavenly and spiritual Jerusalem. He’s going to become a part of one body, he’s going to become a part of one seed, that same body and that same seed that we belong to which is Jesus Christ and his church. So there’s not going to be any two economies, saints. No such thing as Jews and Greek, no such thing as Jews and Gentiles, only one seed, and God only recognizes one seed and he always has, and that’s the seed of faith, and so he’s going to eventually graft men from out of all kindreds, nations, and tongues into that one seed, which is the church.
Now Paul says to us, “For as you in times past have not believed God yet have now obtained mercy through their unbelief…” – this is what he’s saying to the church – … “as through their unbelief God’s mercy was extended to us Gentiles, even so have these also now not believed…” that is the Jews have not believed that through your mercy they also may obtain mercy, for God has concluded them all in unbelief that he might have mercy upon all. Praise God. So he says that by their falling away we Gentiles receive mercy from God, but he says, through our mercy they shall be restored. What does he mean through our mercy? Because it is through us preaching the gospel unto them that they shall be restored. We shall extend the mercy of God to them. We, the church, shall be the instrument of their salvation, not Enoch and Elijah. Not a church in heaven but a church in the earth doing the effective work of evangelizing the whole creation as the Bible says. The final Great Commission and witness which is going to be done by a people who are walking in heavenly places in the Spirit, not walking on clouds of glory in the natural but in the Spirit. Amen. Praise God. Bless the Lord.
Now in Romans Chapter 10, verses 11 and 12, for the Scripture saith whosoever believeth on Him shall not be ashamed. You don’t have to be ashamed because you’re a Gentile. The Scripture says whosoever believes on him shall not be ashamed, for there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek, no difference between the Jew and the Gentile, for the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon him, for whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved. Isn’t that glorious? You know, I was taught when I was a baby Christian that God made a difference, that the natural Jew was God’s chosen people and that we Gentiles were just sort of coming along for the ride, a kind of afterthought with God. Isn’t it marvelous to realize that God’s word is extended to all men through Christ and that we are all God’s chosen people because we believe in Christ? There’s no such thing as a caste system among us. We’re all God’s chosen people if we be in Christ. We’re joint heirs. We are Abraham’s true children. There’s none other. There’s only one seed. That’s what the Bible says. There’s not two seeds. There’s not a natural seed of Abraham that God recognizes and then a spiritual seed. Paul teaches us in Galatians there’s not seeds, as of many. There’s only one seed, that’s Christ, and the Scripture also says you don’t have to worry about a caste system concerning your sex either, because God is not preferring males to females. There’s no such thing as second-class sex in God’s economy either. That’s exactly what we read as Paul ministered in Galatians that in Christ there is not only equality between Jew and Greek, there’s equality in Christ between male and female so that women have the same promise as men to become joint heirs in Christ, to excel in Christ and to obtain all the riches of the promises of Christ. Women are not second-class citizens either, as we see exhibited so much in our ecclesiastical dogma and doctrine which relegates women to menial inferiority concerning God’s offices, stations and eternal purposes, and this is a lie. We’re about to pass into a new phase which is called the kingdom of God. We’re living in the last generation of the Church Age. God’s about to do his new thing, and his new thing is the kingdom of God, and that’s what he’s about to establish in the earth through his church, the Kingdom of God, and Jesus said in the regeneration, in that kingdom there is no such thing as male and female, but we are all going to be equal with God as the angels. We’re going to be equal with one another, that is to say, male and female. Indeed, we’re going to become living theophanies, living epiphanies, glorified sons, if you will, of God. No longer male and female but glorified sons of God as the angels are, having our identification with him in his eternal form of regeneration which is the prize of the glory that we press for to attain in him.
Now as Paul was grooming the young man Timothy for the ministry – I want to tell you something about Timothy. Timothy had a problem. One of his parents was a Jew and the other was a Gentile, and because he was considered a half breed and a low-caste Jew, he was a mixture of Jewish and Gentile blood, therefore the Jews who prided themselves in their pure ethnic line would not have any such a person defiling their temples or synagogues to come in to minister, and as you know, Timothy was commissioned of Paul, taught of Paul, discipled by Paul and groomed as a young man to take the gospel, and so Paul was warning him that he was going to have to face the contentious, Judaistic doctrines of ethnic superiority, and he was warning him not to get involved in arguments over genealogies. In the first epistle of Timothy, beginning in Chapter 1 and verse 4, Paul in his preparation letter to Timothy as he was grooming him for the ministry he admonishes Timothy and he says to him, neither give heed to fables. This is what he tells and counsels the young man Timothy as he’s beginning his ministry. He says, “Neither give heed to fables and endless genealogies.” Don’t get involved in arguments – fables if you will – and endless genealogies, arguing about genealogies, trying to prove who is an Israelite by genealogy and who isn’t, who is pure and who isn’t. He says don’t get involved in those arguments, because he says these arguments only minister questions rather than godly edifying. You see studying genealogies and trying to trace genealogies ministers questions but it does not edify in the spirit. It has nothing to do with godly edifying, and he says avoid genealogies, avoid these fables of men and he says that minister questions rather than godly edifying, because godly edifying he says is in faith. If you minister to the people, minister to things which have to do with faith, walking in faith, walking in the Spirit in Christ and that is what edifies.
Now the end of the commandment is charity out of a pure heart says Paul and of a good conscience and of faith unfeigned from which some, having swerved, have turned aside unto vain jangling, he says, arguing about genealogies trying to prove that they have some bloodline that’s superior to somebody else’s bloodline, which makes them a better citizen with God than somebody else, which is a fable out of the imagination of men built upon their pride and false knowledge of God, and he says that those that are entangled in these doctrines of genealogies have swerved aside unto vain jangling, desiring he said, they desire to be teachers of the law but they understand neither what they say nor whereof they affirm. In other words, Paul is telling Timothy these people that are arguing about ethnic superiority and genealogies are full of hot air and vain jangling, and while they desire to be teachers they don’t even know what they’re talking about he says. So avoid wasting your time debating with them and teach the people who are interested in the things concerning faith, who want to grow up in the faith and knowledge of God’s spiritual purposes. That’s what you concentrate on teaching people, but don’t argue with these other people that want to get into the genealogy thing because it means nothing with God. Amen? Praise the Lord.
Well I thank the Lord for his precious word, and you know when we get into the book of Revelation on this subject of God’s true Israel, you know the Scripture tells us Revelation is of course the apocalypse, which means the uncovering or revealing of last things. The uncovering or revealing of Jesus Christ, the manifestation, uncovering or revealing of the gospel of Jesus Christ to all men. That’s really what the apocalypse is. The unsealing of that book is going to be done through a ministry that’s going to be manifested out of Zion, which is God’s true church, an anointed ministry anointed by the mind of Christ that will have the gospel of the everlasting kingdom that will preach that gospel with authority and power to every nation, kindred and tongue, and let me tell you something, that’s the greatest event in world history, and that’s the thing that’s right around the corner saints, and God has called us as members of his spiritual, invisible Israel, which is the true seed of faith, that elect church that’s born of the Spirit from above and not born of the flesh from beneath. He has appointed us to be a part of that ministry if you can embrace and understand God’s purpose for the church in this hour. He has a glorious revelation to reveal to us, a glorious commission and a glorious ministry, and he’s not going to send his church to the nations spiritually disarmed because he’s preparing a mighty outpouring, a mighty anointing of his glory to empower his church, not only to do the works that Jesus did, but as the Scripture says, to do greater works, and greater works doesn’t mean more work, it means greater works, not apart from Christ but through Christ. Amen. So there’s greater works ministry, there’s greater glory. There’s a greater testament coming in our time than the world has ever seen, and the church is going to be the instrumentation of it, and we are encouraged of God to recognize then that as the Scripture tells us in Revelation that there’s a sealing of a people there who are spiritually called the 12 tribes of Israel, and I want you to know that that book of Revelation is a book of types, and shadows and symbols, and God is speaking in parables through the book of Revelation. He’s identifying kingdoms in mystery terms. There’s a kingdom called Mystery Babylon in there, and God’s not talking about old natural Babylon on the Euphrates, restoring old natural Babylon. He’s talking about a spiritual Babylon, and the same Jerusalem that’s mentioned in the book of Revelation, the same holy city that’s mentioned in there is not the natural city of Jerusalem. It’s the spiritual city saints. God’s talking to a spiritual people there. The 12 tribes of Israel that he’s speaking of anointing 12,000 out of these 12 tribes, he’s not talking about ethnic Israel. There’s no such thing as 12 ethnic tribes of Israel with any ethnic identification in the world today. That’s a hoax and a fable of men’s genealogies. Those 12 tribes spoken of in Revelation that are to be sealed are the elect spiritual seed of Abraham. It’s a spiritual code word for the spiritual seed which is the elect or the Israel out of Israel, which means the church out of the church. That spiritual seed called out of the church. For you are the true seed. You are the invisible Israel and you those invisible tribes to whom God is speaking of in the Spirit who have your identification through Abraham by faith.
You know there’s an interesting prophecy over in Isaiah Chapter 63, praise God. In Isaiah 63, as I turn to it here in the Holy Scriptures, I want to read this to you. In verse 16, “Doubtless thou are our father.” Now this is a prophetic word being uttered here. “Doubtless thou art our father thou Abraham be ignorant of us and Israel acknowledges not. Thou, oh Lord, art our father, our redeemer. Thy name is from everlasting.” Now this is a prayer going up in the spirit from a people whose father is the Lord though they are not descended from Abraham in the natural. Though they are not descended from Israel in the natural it says. Doubtless God is their father though Abraham is ignorant of them and Israel acknowledges them not. So this is a prophetic word speaking of the church. The church. The church is that people here of this prophecy in the spirit. God is our father though Abraham is ignorant of us and Israel acknowledges not. We are not of his natural seed. Thou, oh Lord, art our father, our redeemer. Thy name is from everlasting. Oh Lord, why hast thou made us to err from thy ways and harden our hearts from thine ear? Return for thy servant’s sake the tribes of thine inheritance. What tribes? This is a prayer going up from a people who are not genetically related to Abraham and Israel, but they are praying for the restoration of the tribes of his inheritance. Where are the tribes of God’s inheritance? Why that’s the true church saints. That’s the true church. James in his general epistle in the New Testament to the church begins by speaking to the church in parabalistic form, and he says, “James to the 12 tribes which are scattered abroad. Peace be unto you. What tribes? He certainly wasn’t addressing it to natural Israel. Natural Israel wasn’t receiving the gospel. He was addressing it to those spiritual tribes which he was allegorically identifying as the church. The church, those spiritual tribes James was addressing his epistle to which is God’s spiritual Israel, the Church, and that’s exactly what this prophecy is alluding to back in Isaiah. Amen. Praise God.
Well we hope that this message has been a blessing to you. We hope it’s been an eye-opener. We hope it’s been an enlightener to you that God is not working in two economies. He does not have a chosen people called natural Jews and then another people called The Church. He has only one chosen people. He has only one true Israel, and that Israel is the Israel after the Spirit. That Jew is the Jew after the Spirit so that if that faith is in you, you are the only Jew God recognizes if you’re in Jesus Christ. Did you hear me? And I don’t care whether your skin is black, brown, white, yellow, pink, green or blue. You’re a Jew if you’re in Christ, and that’s the only Jew there is. And God bless you and go with you, and I want you to be encouraged that you’re God’s chosen people because you’re in Christ, and you’re a joint heir with him of everything he promised to Abraham, and he promised the world and the uttermost parts thereof for your possession. Amen. God bless you and go with you. Amen.
Praise the Lord,
The subject I’m going to minister on is Nehushtan, the Brazen Serpent that Moses raised in the wilderness. I’m going to minister on that subject this morning, praise God.
First of all, I want us to go to the third chapter of Genesis, and I want to lay a foundation for this message, praise the Lord. In the third chapter of Genesis we have the recording of the fall of man. The fall of man, and what it entailed, and I want to just read it to you to lay you out what the Scripture reveals to us as what the true fall of man is.
In Genesis chapter three, beginning in verse one.
...now the serpent was more subtle than any beast of the field which the Lord God had made. Now, this is the story of the creation in a day and in a time when God created Adam arid Eve, our first parents, and in the Garden of Eden, where God had placed them, there was also the Serpent, and the Serpent was more subtle than any beast of the field, and Satan himself entered into the Serpent, and he began to beguile Eve.
Now, the Serpent was more subtle than any beast of the field which the Lord God had made, and he said unto the woman, “Yea has God said you shall not eat of every tree of the Garden,” and the woman said unto the Serpent, “We may eat of the fruit of the trees of the Garden but of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the Garden, that is the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil, God has said you shall not eat of it, neither shall you touch it, lest you die.” And the Serpent said unto the woman, “You shall not surely die, for God does know that in the day you eat thereof, then your eyes shall be open and you shall be as gods, knowing good and evil’
And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food and that it was pleasant to the eyes and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof and did eat and gave also unto her husband with her, and he did eat. And the eyes of them both were opened and they knew that they were naked, and they sewed fig leaves together, and made themselves aprons.
And they heard the voice of the Lord God walking in the garden in the cool of the day: and Adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the Lord God amongst the trees of the garden. And the Lord God called unto Adam, and he said unto him, Where art thou? Where art thou?
And Adam said, I heard Your voice in the garden, and I was afraid, because I was naked; and I hid myself. And the Lord said to Adam, Who told you that you were naked? Have you eaten of the tree, whereof I commanded you that you should not eat? And the man said, “The woman whom you gave to be with me, she gave me of the tree, and I did eat.”
And the Lord God said unto the woman, “What is this that you have done?” And the woman said, “The serpent beguiled me, and I did eat.”
And the Lord God said unto the serpent, “Because you’ve done this, you’re cursed above all cattle, above every beast of the field. Upon thy belly shall you go and dust shall you eat all the days of thy life.”
And so dust became the Serpent’s meat.
I want you to go over to Verse 17.
And unto Adam the Lord said, “Because you’ve hearkened unto the voice of your wife, and have eaten of the tree of which I commanded you saying you shall not eat of it, cursed is the ground for your sake. In sorrow shall you eat of it all the days of your life. Thorns also and thistles shall it bring forth to you, and you shall eat the herb of the field. In the sweat of your face shall you eat bread, until you return unto the ground; for out of it wast thou taken, for dust you are, and unto dust shall you return.”
I want you to notice the connection between the Serpent and the judgment pronounced upon the Serpent and Adam and judgment pronounced upon Adam and upon his progeny. What is common to the curse pronounced upon both of them was that first of all the Serpent would be cursed above every creature that God had made and that the Serpent would go upon his belly and he would feed upon dust and dust would be his meat.
And unto Adam he said, “the ground shall be cursed for your sake. It will not produce food for you without labor and in the sweat of your face is the only way you’re going to eat bread out of the earth because the earth will not produce for your without hard work and labor.”
So this became the figure of the curse of tilling the earth for sustenance and food, and God said “you’re made from the dust of the earth” because man was biologically formed from the components of the dust of the earth. And God said. “I made you and formed your body,” your physical body, from the dust of the earth, and your physical body is going to die and it’s going to decompose and go back to dust, and that’s the curse that God pronounced upon Adam and upon his progeny.
And so as by one man’s transgression, we are told in The New Testament, as by one man’s sin, death entered into the world, and so death has passed on to all men and to every creature that was under the dominion of man, which is the whole earth, that curse entered into the creation. And that curse is the curse of dust to dust, of physical death. And that Serpent, who is the minister of death, is Satan. Satan is that old dragon, that old serpent of ancient time, who beguiled our first parents in the Garden of Eden. and he became the minister of death and dust is his meat and it is his ministry to put the seed of Adam in the grave.
Now, I want you to move over into Numbers, the Book of Numbers, Genesis, Exodus, .Leviticus, Deuteronomy, and Numbers. I’m sorry, Numbers comes before Deuteronomy. Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, and Numbers. Numbers Chapter 21. The 21st Chapter of Numbers, the Book of Numbers, beginning in Verse 4.
Now, this takes us into a time when God had chosen a people for himself by the name of Israel, and he brought these Israelites out of great bondage in Egypt by the strong hand of a prophet by the name of Moses, and he brought them across the Red Sea and into the wilderness, and he made them to sojourn and wander in the wilderness by a space of forty years. And as the time of their long sojourn was nearing an end, many of these people had died away in the wilderness because of their unbelief.
And it came to pass in verse 4, that as they “journeyed from mount Hor by the way of the Red sea” — this was in the Sinai Peninsula — “to compass the land of Edom” as they began to march up toward the Promised Land, that “the soul of the people was much discouraged because of the way.
Now, remember, they’d been nearly forty years wandering in the wilderness and they hadn’t gone into the Promised Land yet. So many of them were becoming discouraged, and as they became discouraged with this walk, they began to murmur against the Lord and against Moses his prophet.
“And the people spake against God, and they spake against Moses,” and they said, “Wherefore have you brought us up out of Egypt to die in the wilderness? for there is no bread, neither is there any water here; and our soul loaths this light bread.” The light bread they were talking about was manna that God was feeding them with. Angels’ food. Angels’ bread. God was feeding them with manna from Heaven. Angels’ bread. But it came to pass after so many years of eating this angels’ bread that the people began to lose their appetite for it and they began to despise it and it didn’t savor well with them any more, and they were tired of it and they wanted to go back to Egypt. They wanted to go back to Egypt.
Now, this is representative here of the long sojourn of God’s people, the Christians, who now for almost forty Jubilees, like the children of Israel, wandering in the wilderness for forty years, waiting to go into the Promised Land, so God’s church has been wandering in a wilderness for nearly forty Jubilees, nearly forty times fifty years, for nearly two thousand years God’s people have been wandering in a spiritual wilderness called a church. waiting to enter into something called the Promises of God, and many have fainted along the way, and many do faint and back slide and fall away, and they lose faith in God and they lose faith in His Word, and that manna that once fed the soul, that Heavenly bread, the promises of God, no longer savor as good to them and they’re tired of it, and they would rather go back into Egypt where they came out of.
That’s the figure of people who become weary with the promises of God, and after so long a time they begin to desire to go back to the world from whence the came. You see, Egypt is the figure of the world, and so they began in their hearts to backslide, and in their hearts they desire to go back to the world, because they have lost faith in the promises of God which never seem to come to pass?
That’s kind of where the church has been. For nearly two thousand years, waiting for these great promises that God made in the beginning. We’re going to see what these promises are: the promises that God made from the beginning that the church knows nothing about. I’m talking about the church in general, now, the world-wide church of the Lord Jesus Christ, that it seems to know nothing about, is what the true promises of God were from the very beginning, because they’ve become obscured through church theology and church tradition.
To the extent that God’s people think almost universally that the Promised Land is Heaven, that the Promised Land is going to Heaven to spend eternity in Heaven with your dead relatives and with the Lord and angels and strumming on harps and walking on streets of gold, and that’s the concept of basic Christianity.
Very few Christians realize what the original promises of God were, and that’s what we’re going to minister to you on.
Now as the people began to murmur in the wilderness and they desire to go back to Egypt because they were getting tired of this daily manna that they had been eating for nearly forty years, they stirred up the anger and the displeasure of the Lord, and in Verse 6 it says “The LORD sent fiery serpents among the people, and they bit the people; and much people of Israel died” because these fiery serpents were unleashed upon them. And as these fiery serpents bit them, many of them began to die.
I want you to go back to the Garden of Eden again, to what happened in the Garden. When the curse came upon Adam in the Garden of Eden, what do you think he was stung with? He was stung with the bite of the Serpent in the Garden. Do you know what the stinging of the Serpent is? It’s the sting of death. It’s the sting of death. Physical death. That was the curse, that was the sting in the Garden of Eden. When God announced that curse upon Adam, that his physical body, his biological creation was going to be stung with a sting of death and from hence forth he would grow old, wither away and die, and his body would decompose back to dust again. That was all that he was left with when God told him that he was accursed.
So he was driven out of the Garden and the Serpent was driven out with him, and the Serpent pursued out of the Garden. It became the ministry of the Serpent, then, to administer the sting of death to the physical bodies of Adam and all his progeny all down through the creation.
So that old Serpent, the Devil, became the minister of physical death, and he is to this day the minister of physical death.
So when the people of God murmured in the wilderness and they were displeased with the Lord because the Lord hadn’t fulfilled any or the promises that he’d made to them, then the Lord reminded them of something: he reminded them that if they abandoned him, the sting of death would be their reward. So these fiery serpents were sent among them and they bit the people and much of the people of Israel began to die. That sting is the sting of death, and the sting of death that comes upon God’s people is because they do not discern the body of Christ. They do not discern the Nehushtan, the sacrifice of God.
I’m going to explain that to you.
“Therefore the people came to Moses, and they said. We have sinned,” then the people were afraid of God. And they were afraid of Moses. And they said, “We have sinned for we have spoken against the Lord, and against you; pray unto the Lord, that he take away the serpents from us. And Moses prayed for the people.” And Moses prayed for the people.
“And the Lord said unto Moses, Make you a fiery serpent, and set it upon a pole: and it shall come to pass. that every one that is bitten, when he looks upon it, shall live.
“And Moses made a serpent of brass, and put it upon a pole; and it came to pass, that if a serpent had bitten any man, when he beheld the serpent of brass, he lived.”
And so this was the remedy for the sting of death. Every man that had been bitten by a deadly viper, that had been bitten with the sting of death, if he only lifted up his eyes and looked at this brass serpent on a pole and beheld that brass serpent on a pole, he would live and not die. He would live and not die.
Now, God is trying to tell us something in the spirit here. The sting of physical death is the bite of the serpent. That’s his ministry. The ministry of the Devil is to minister death to the physical creation. Physical death.
Now, the problem with Christianity is, we have totally lost sight of what the curse is and we are thinking of the after effects of the curse, which is our spirit going to Heaven and dwelling in Heaven somewhere for eternity, and that isn’t what God is telling the church at all. He’s telling us to look upon the brass serpent on the pole, and when you look on the brass serpent on the pole, the sting of death will be delivered from you. The sting of physical death will be delivered from you when you discern the brass serpent on the pole.
What the brass serpent on the pole means, you’ll live. If you discern what that brass serpent on the pole means, you’ll live and not die.
No, remember that when this incident happened, it happened almost at the end of the sojourn of the children of Israel in the wilderness. They’d put in their nearly forty years. Did you know that the church is at the end of its sojourn in the wilderness? We’ve put in our nearly forty Jubilees, we’re nearly 2,000 years down the road, and Jesus is coming back soon. Jesus is coming back soon.
But many of God’s people are murmuring because they don’t discern what he’s coming back for. They don’t discern what he’s coming back to do, and many of them pine away, and many of them would rather just die and go to be with Jesus.
Now, that sounds good, but that’s not the way a real soldier thinks. That’s a giving-up spirit. That’s giving up to the fiery serpent. That’s giving up to death. That’s giving up to the sting of the death devil.
But I want you to know when the people repented of their unbelief, then God gave them a remedy for their unbelief, and he said, “Look on the brazen serpent upon the pole,” and every one that looked on the brass serpent on the pole was delivered from the deadly venom that was already in them.
Now, I want you to recognize they had already been bit with this deadly venom. They had the venom in them; they were dying. There was no remedy for it. But God said if you look on the brazen serpent, even though the venom of that serpent is in your blood, you’ll live. It wont’ kill you, you’ll live.
Now, I want you to know that the venom of the deadly serpent is in everybody sitting here. The venom of the deadly serpent is in all creation. The venom of the deadly serpent is in every living organism in this world, and do you know what the venom of the deadly serpent is? It is the curse of physical death. It’s in your blood. It’s in your flesh. It’s in your bone. It’s in the living substance of everything alive. The curse, the venom of the dead is there.
What’s the remedy? My God, said Paul. Who shall deliver me from the body of this death? We ourselves that have the foretaste of the Holy Ghost are groaning within ourselves. Not only is the world groaning to be delivered from this bondage of the subjectivity of physical death, old age and decay. Not only is the creation out here groaning to be delivered from it, but we ourselves, the Christians, the people of God, we’re groaning. We that have had the foretaste of the Holy Ghost. We are groaning, the Bible says, to be delivered from this same bondage that the world is subject to, which is the bondage of the venom of the deadly serpent that is in our blood, in our flesh and in our bones, in our substance. It is the curse of dust to dust and the minister of it is that old Serpent the Devil, and dust is his meat and it’s his ministry to put you in the grave. That’s his ministry.
None can deliver themselves out of his hands. There is no one that can deliver themselves from physical death. Isn’t that true?
Until their eyes are open and they behold the serpent on the brazen pole. And when their eyes are open, and they see the serpent on the brazen pole, they’ll live, even though the venom of death is in their blood, they won’t die. Do you believe that? That’s what the word says. That’s exactly what happened to the children of Israel.
Did you know that all these thing are written for examples to us? Upon whom the ends of the world have come? We are at the end of our sojourn God wants our eyes open. He wants us to behold Nehushtan, the brazen serpent, and live. Do you discern who the brazen serpent is, on the pole?
The brazen serpent upon the pole is he that became sin for us. He that knew no sin became sin for us. He that knew no curse became a curse for us.
Both the Christians and the sinners do the same thing: they seek a remedy for their illness. They seek a remedy for the death that’s working in their bodies, and they will spend their money, they will spend their prayers, they will go to the healing ministers, they will go to the doctors and the hospitals — they’ll do anything they can to live one more day in this world, and don’t ever kid yourself: nobody likes to be sick and nobody likes to die and nobody likes to stand over the grave of somebody that they loved with all their heart and weep with bitterness over the loss of a loved one — nobody likes that. There aren’t any fiestas at the gravesites, are there? Nobody throws a party for the dead unless they’re mentally deranged.
John Chapter 3. What the creation is waiting for is for a church that’s got the message of the hour for a dying creation, and this is it. John Chapter 3 and verses 14 to 17: “And, as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of Man be lifted up.” How was the Son of Man lifted up? He was lifted up on a pole, wasn’t he? He hung between Heaven and earth on a wooden pole. We call it the cross. He was nailed to a cross and that cross was erected vertically and he hung there between Heaven and earth, nailed to a pole.
As Moses lifted up the serpent, that was hanging on a pole, the brass serpent, “even so must the Son of Man be lifted up. That whosoever believeth in Him should not perish but have eternal life.”
Now, I want to say something to you: You know, metals have a spiritual significance. Metallic substances have a spiritual significance in Bible types and shadows. For instance, gold is representative of divinity. It represents the divine nature. Gold is always an anti—type of divinity or the divine nature of God. Silver is always an anti-type of redemption. Silver is always a type of something God redeems. And brass, brass is always symbolic of judgment, the severity of judgment.
Now, the reason why this serpent was made out of brass and hung on a pole indicates that this brass serpent was taking the judgment for something. It was taking the judgment for the sins of the people, and brass always represents judgment.
Now when Jesus was nailed to the cross, he became the brazen serpent for us. He that knew no sin became sin for us. He became the brazen serpent. He took the judgment for our sins. He took the judgment for our sins, and why did he take that judgment? Why did the brazen serpent take the judgment for the sins of the people in the wilderness? What was the result of that?
The result of that was that if the people would look upon the brazen serpent, the sting of death that was in their bodies would not kill them. The venom that was in them wouldn’t kill them. They’d live.
Now the church has never discerned for two thousand years the purpose of the death of Jesus Christ, the purpose of why he hung on the pole, why he hung on the tree, why he took our judgment upon himself. Do you know what our judgment is that he took upon himself? Well, go back to Genesis and read it again. Our judgment that Jesus took upon himself was the judgment of physical death. Physical death, that was the curse. God didn’t say to Adam, spirit you are and a spirit you shall return. I made a spirit out of you and you’re going to go to a spiritual world — that isn’t what he said.
Now, don’t get me wrong: if people die in the Lord, their disembodied spirit does go to Heaven, but that’s just a temporary docking place. God created man in the beginning to live forever physically. That was the intent, and that is still the passion of every living thing, did you know that? Is to live forever. The Bible even says a young man never thinks of death. A young man thinks he’ll live forever. Why? Because it is there by instinct. The first law of the creation is self preservation, it’s there by instinct to live.
But the curse is upon us. “Now therefore God said in the beginning that the curse was dust to dust, so when the people looked on the brazen serpent, they lived, though the venom of death was in them. I declare to you that God has a living church today. He has a people today that are still dwelling in mortal bodies. These mortal bodies still have the venom of death working in them. The aging process is the evidence of that. Don’t ever kid yourself.
But we’ve got to look on the brazen serpent on the pole. We’ve got to see what he means, what that means to look on him and live, even though the venom of death is in your bones, it’s in your blood, it’s in your substance.
Jesus said as Moses lifted up this serpent in the wilderness, so must the Son of Man be lifted up, and he was talking about the cross. Jesus was lifted up on the cross. That whosoever believes in him -- whosoever believes in him should not perish but have everlasting life.
Should not perish, what does that mean, that he shouldn’t go to Hell? That isn’t what the Bible is talking about at all. That isn’t what it’s talking about.
Now, don’t get me wrong, people do go to Heaven and they do go to Hell after they die, but that’s not what God was talking about here. .He was talking about looking upon the Son of Man who is lifted up upon the cross. If you look upon the work of the cross and discern with the eyes of the spirit what you’re seeing in the work of the cross, what you’re seeing in the work of the cross is that whosoever believes in him would not perish but have everlasting life.
What does that mean? Well, Paul’s dead and Peter’s dead and all the Christians are dead from the last two thousand years, what are you talking about?
I’m talking about not perishing. Abraham is in the grave. The patriarchs are dead. What do you mean that if a man keeps your sayings he’ll not see death? What are you talking about?
That’s what they said to Jesus, you know? Hard sayings.
Jesus said if a man keeps my sayings he’ll never see death.
That’s a hard saying.
So the Jewish religious leaders said to him. “What do you mean? You’re out of your mind. Abraham’s dead, he’s in his grave, all the holy men of old are dead and in their graves. You say if a man keeps your saying he’ll never see death?” And, they became incensed with him and they took up stones to stone him. But Jesus never denied what he said. You know why? Because he came into the world to become Nehushtan. The brazen serpent. That if a man could discern the purpose of his death, he would live forever, and though he were dead, he would live forever.
“Whosoever is dead that has believed in me shall live again.” And this is the hard saying. “And whosoever is living or alive in this world biologically and believes in me shall never die” Can you believe that? That’s a hard saying.
But remember that the times and seasons are not in your power and they’re not in my power, and because you believe a promise doesn’t mean you can make it happen. But everything according to God’s due order and time. We are in the generation of the fulfillment of this promise. If you lived a hundred years ago, you were born too soon. You would die. But you have the hope of the resurrection is restoration to a physical substance body to live forever in this world. That’s the promise.
The promise is not that you’ll Live forever in Heaven with your relatives after you all die, the promise is, if you die, you’ll be resurrected to live forever on the earth. And if you’ve had loved ones in the Lord that have died, then they have the hope of the resurrection, that they will be remedied from the serpent’s bite, physical death.
But the good news and the some better thing for us is that God has a generation living today that will never taste of physical death, even though the venom of serpent is in them right now, they’ll never taste the physical death.
The apostle Paul said, “I show you a mystery, that in the days of the voice of the seventh angel, when he shall begin to sound, the mystery of God would be finished.” Do you know what that mystery is? Paul said in I Corinthians 15, “I show you a mystery that’s going to be finished in your time.”
We shall not all sleep. We shall not all die physical. We are not all going to go by the way of our fathers. We are not all going to go into the grave.
Do you believe it? Look, this isn’t in my book of funny stories, this is God’s word. I said I’m not telling you funny stones, this is God’s book. It’s His word, it’s His promises.
Now, our problem is, we haven’t come alive yet. We don’t realize who we are, why God has apprehended us in this generation, and for what cause we are to witness to this world. For what cause we are to witness Jesus to this world? So that they can prepare to die and go to Heaven? The witness of the gospel of the Kingdom is behold the Kingdom of Heaven is at hand; repent. The Kingdom of Heaven is at hand. God’s Kingdom is about to come to the earth, and all the benefits and glory of that Kingdom shall fill the whole world. And the church will shortly bruise the serpent under its heel. The church will shortly bruise the head of serpent under its heel. The woman will bruise the head of serpent under its heel.
Do you know what that means? God’s going to raise up a church in the last days that’s going to destroy he power of the serpent to sting the creation with death, any longer.
Do you know where the deadliest part of the serpent is? It’s not in his tail, it’s not in his trunk. it’s in his head, that’s where he venom is. The venom’s in his head. And if you want to get rid of the ability of the viper to deal death, you’ve got to — you can’t accomplish that by cutting off his tail. You’ve got to crush his head, because that’s where the venom comes from.
And the Bible says there is a ministry coming, there is a woman coming, there is a church that is going to rise up in the last days that will put its heel upon the head of the serpent, that will crush the head of the serpent. That’s a ministry that is going to destroy the power of the destroyer to minister death to the creation and it’s going to come through the church.
But if we don’t believe that, then we’re going to die, because we haven’t discerned Nehushtan. We haven’t discerned the purpose of why Jesus hung on the pole.
He hung on the pole that whosoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life, for God so loved the world — the world not just the church, not just the professing Christian, but God so loved the world — you know what the church is for? The church is for the benefit of the world. The church is not for the benefit of the church, the church is for the benefit of the world.
We have become a cloistered society who come together for the benefit of one another, isn’t that true? All Christians basically assemble for the benefit of one another, but we are called to assemble for something far higher than that, and a much greater vision than that. We are called to assemble together to become the benefactors of a dying world that’s groaning for something that we’ve got to give to them and what we have to give to them is the enlightenment of who he is that died for us and what he died for.
“For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son, that whosoever” — in the world, in other words — “believes in him should not perish but have everlasting life.” You see, that’s the ultimate purpose of God. Do you know why Jesus is coming hack to this world?
He’s coming back to this world through an empowered, anointed army of his own supernaturally endowed saints to deliver this dying, groaning creation out here from the bondage of the dragon. From the bondage of the serpent. From the death-dealing effects of sin and lawlessness. That if you will repent of your sins and behold the sacrifice of God, you will not die, you will live forever on this earth.
That’s what he’s coming back for. To deliver the creature, the whole creation from the bondage of the subjectivity of physical death because of sin.
Therefore the message of the messengers of this last day to the fallen creation is “repent!” Because the reward for repentance is very great. The reward for your repentance is very great. Homosexuals, repent. Drug addicts, repent. Businessmen and thieves in high places, politicians and crooks, in religion and otherwise, repent. Because the reward of your repentance is going to be very great. You’ll live forever. Not, in Heaven, right here.
Powerful message, isn’t it?
It’s a truth whose time has come. It’s the message of the hour. It is the message that God will anoint and will confirm with irresistible signs and wonders.
But I tell you before it happens, that if you will behold the purpose of God, you have an opportunity to function in the greatest ministry and calling of all time that’s about to be manifested.
In the twelfth chapter of John, versus 31 to 33. As Jesus was approaching the time of his suffering, when he knew when he was going to have to go to the cross, beginning in verse 31 of Chapter 12 of the Gospel of John, Jesus said, “Now is the time judgment of this world; now shall the prince of this world be cast out. And I, if I be lifted up from the earth, will draw all men unto me.
What does he mean, the judgment of this world, the casting out of the prince of this world? The judgment of this world was physical death. That’s irrefutable, isn’t it? People may argue about who’s going to Heaven and who’s going to Hell, but there’s one thing nobody argues about, and that’s the grave. Yeah. Nobody argues about whether they’re going to the grave or not, they just argue about Heaven and Hell. Well, that’s hypothetical.
You know, men like to argue about things they can’t prove so that if they’re wrong, well, so what? But there’s one thing they don’t argue about because there is no argument about it. You know, like they say in the world there’s nothing sure but death and taxes, right? And I’m not so sure about taxes. Or I’m not so sure about death, really.
But, anyway, this is what God is telling us here. Now is the judgment of this world. Now shall the prince of this world be cast out. The judgment of this world he was talking about was that Jesus now is about to become Nehushtan. He was about to become the brazen serpent on the pole. He was about to go to the cross to take on the judgment that had been pronounced upon us in the Garden of Eden. He was about to take death upon himself. Jesus was about to take death upon himself that through his death he died for every man. That through his death we, who live all our lifetime in the bondage of the subjectivity of physical death, might be delivered from that bondage.
So he became the brazen serpent for us. He took upon us the judgment of our sin, which is the judgment of dust to dust, the judgment of physical death, and he said now shall the prince of this world be cast out” What was he talking about? He was talking about casting the prince of this world out of the garden of God.
Who is the prince of this world? That old serpent the Devil. And what’s he going to be cast out of? He’s going to be cast out of the garden of God. What’s the garden of God? The garden of God is this world. The garden of God is this world. You see, when God created the world, he gave Adam dominion over it, didn’t he? And he said, “I’m giving you the whole world for your garden, dress it and keep it, it’s under your dominion.”
The world is still under man’s dominion. The problem is, man is under the dominion of the Devil. That’s his big problem. Man’s got dominion over the world, but the Devil’s got dominion over man. Man spends all his life time tilling the earth, trying to earn wages, trying to get ahead. Some are smarter and sharper than others and they heap up wealth to themselves, and they become millionaires and billionaires, and then finally they have to face the bit of the serpent because all their money can’t buy one thing for them: it can’t buy them another day when their time has come. I said, it can’t buy them another day when their time has come. Isn’t that true?
The guy that hasn’t got a penny in his pocket is no worse off than the guy that’s got a billion dollars when his time has come. He can’t buy off the serpent, right? He can’t buy off the death angel, he’s going to die. And all his silver and gold can’t save him. Only Nehushtan can save him. Bless the Lord.
Now is the judgment of this world, now shall the prince of this world be cast out. Jesus destroyed him that had the power of death. That’s what we’re taught. Jesus destroyed him that had the power of death. And I, if I be lifted up from the earth, will draw all men unto me. That’s the gospel of the Kingdom that’s the gospel of the Kingdom. If Jesus be lifted up, he’ll draw all men to him.
What happened in the wilderness when the brazen serpent was lifted up on the pole and all those that had the sting of death looked on that brazen serpent. They lived, didn’t they? What do you think the creation is waiting for? They’re waiting for you and I to lift up the brazen serpent to the world. To lift up Christ on the cross. To reveal the revelation of why he died. Why he was nailed to the cross. That’s what they’re waiting for. Because if Jesus is lifted up from the earth, he’ll draw all men unto him. He’s talking about the redemption of the whole creation. The redemption of this dying creation from the bondage of the subjectivity of the serpent’s bite, which is physical death.
You can preach any other salvation message you want to in the last days, but you’re not going to find the anointing on ml in the hours to come. You’re not going to find a confirmation of God on it. Why? Because the sinner won’t respond to it, that’s why. God will not witness any other message to this dying world in its last hour, but the true purpose of the cross, which is that if you repent of your wicked ways, I’ll lift the curse of death off of you. Physical death. And that’s the promise for the creation. That’s the gospel. That’s the good news of Jesus Christ.
You know, the word “gospel” is an Old English word, and you know what it means, literally? It means good news. Good news. Good news. That’s what the creation’s waiting for, good news.
Now, that’s worth giving up something for, isn’t it? I mean, that’s worth giving up something for. Hey! Now, that makes some sense, especially to people who are not expecting to die and who don’t want to die. And if you’ve got a healthy mind you’re not expecting to die and you don’t want to die. And if you re sick, you want to get well, right?
For God has made Jesus to be sin for us, although he was innocent of sin. Now in Hebrews Chapter 9, I want to begin to bring out a closing point for you that’s very important for Christians to realize. Jesus isn’t hanging on the cross any longer. That work is finished. From hence forth we’re not looking for Jesus to come back and deal with the sin question any more, he’s already taken the judgment for it, he’s already taken the judgment for our sin. Do you know what that judgment was? Death. He died vicariously for us, that we might not have to die. That we might not have to die. That we might not have to die.
Well, if that’s true, how come other Christians have died? Well, the reason why they’ve died is because we haven’t come to the end of our sojourn yet. You see. the promise is dispensational to us. The promise is dispensational. Now we are in the dispensation, the fulfillment of this promise, and we are the most blessed generation that has ever lived since the days of Adam. The most blessed generation, because we’ve come to the time of the inheritance of this promise.
In Hebrews, Chapter 9, beginning in the middle of verse 26, “but now once in the end of the world has he, Jesus, appeared to put away sin by the sacrifice of himself. And as it is appointed unto men once to die” — now, what kind of appointment did Adam receive in the Garden? He received an appointment with physical death, isn’t that what he received. He said, “I made you out of dust, and you’re going back to dust” period. Amen?
Whether you like it or not, you’re going to die, that’s what he said, so “as it is appointed unto men, once to die, but after this the judgment: so Christ was once offered to bear the sins of many.
What’s the wages of sin? Death. What kind of death? Physical death. So Christ was once offered to bear the sins of many, “and unto them that look for him, shall he appear the second time without sin unto salvation.” That means he isn’t coming back the second time to become Nehushtan. He isn’t coming back the second time to become our judgment on the cross, to take the judgment of our sins upon himself. He isn’t coming back the second time for that.
He’s coming back the second time, it says, he’s appearing the second time unto salvation. Unto salvation.
What kind of salvation? Salvation from your appointment with death, that’s what he’s talking about. To save you from your appointment with death.
Alabe a Dios.
